Who Are We

Job Skills Training Association is a UK registered charity dedicated to helping young people aged 16 years to 25 years, overcome barriers to education, skills development and employment in the United Kingdom.

We provide practical training, mentoring, career guidance, employability support and opportunities to gain real-world experience. Our aim is to help young people build the knowledge, confidence and workplace skills they need to take their next step.

We believe that having potential is not always enough. Young people also need access to the right guidance, opportunities, practical experience and support. That is why we work to create pathways that connect learning with real-world opportunities.

Job Skills Training Association - Who We Are

Our Mission

Job Skills Training Association was established to help bridge the gap between education, employment and the practical skills needed in today’s workplace. We exist to address social challenges including unemployment and underemployment, limited access to meaningful work experience, skills gaps, barriers to career progression, and the digital and operational challenges faced by small organisations and communities.
Our beneficiaries include young people, graduates, career changers and individuals seeking to improve their employability, alongside SMEs, charities, social enterprises and community organisations that benefit from skills, innovation and capacity-building support. Through our hands-on training and practical work-experience programmes, participants develop real-world capabilities across areas such as Marketing, Finance, Business Operations, Project Management, Digital Marketing, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Technology and AI, with opportunities to apply their learning to practical projects and organisational challenges.
By connecting learning with real experience, mentoring, collaboration and business support, our mission is to build confidence, strengthen employability, develop a skilled and adaptable workforce, support sustainable organisations and create lasting social and economic impact within the communities we serve.

Our Value Chain

Job Skills Training Association creates a practical bridge between young people and job seekers seeking meaningful employment opportunities and small and medium-sized businesses across the United Kingdom that need skilled, adaptable talent to grow. Our value chain addresses two connected challenges: individuals often struggle to secure employment without relevant practical experience, while SMEs can face skills shortages, limited resources and difficulties finding people with the capabilities their businesses require.

We help close this gap through hands-on training, practical work experience, mentoring and real-world projects. Young people, graduates, career changers and other job seekers develop practical skills across areas including Marketing, Finance, Business Operations, Project Management, Digital Marketing, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Technology and AI. Participants have opportunities to apply their knowledge to realistic business activities, helping them build confidence, strengthen employability and better understand workplace expectations.

At the same time, JSTA works with SMEs, charities and social enterprises that may need additional skills, capacity, digital expertise or support to develop their organisations. Connecting practical training with genuine organisational needs allows participants to gain valuable experience while participating organisations benefit from emerging talent, fresh ideas, digital capabilities and practical project support.

Our value chain progresses through three connected stages: Provide Support, Measure Impact and Empower Community. We provide training, experience, mentoring and collaborative opportunities; measure outcomes including skills gained, employability, career progression, organisational improvement and digital adoption; and use these insights to continuously strengthen our programmes.

Through this approach, JSTA helps address unemployment, underemployment, skills gaps and workforce shortages while creating shared value for individuals, organisations and communities. By connecting people seeking opportunities with organisations requiring talent, we aim to turn learning into experience, experience into opportunity, and opportunity into lasting social and economic impact across the United Kingdom.

Why Our Work Matters
Young people can face different barriers when preparing for education, training and employment. Access to qualifications alone does not always provide the practical experience, confidence or guidance needed to take the next step. Our work responds to four important challenges.
Access to Skills & Learning
Some young people may have limited access to practical training, career guidance or opportunities to develop workplace-relevant skills. We aim to create additional opportunities for learning and development.
The Experience Gap
Many young people find it difficult to gain their first meaningful experience because employers often look for previous workplace exposure. Our practical activities help participants develop experience and understand how skills are applied in real working environments.
Building Confidence & Direction
Choosing a career path can be challenging without guidance or support. Mentoring and career development activities help young people recognise their strengths, explore possibilities and develop greater confidence in their decisions.
Preparing for a Changing Workplace
Preparing for a Changing Workplace Technology, industries and employer expectations continue to change. We help young people develop adaptable skills and a stronger understanding of the knowledge, behaviours and practical abilities needed in today's workplace.

How We Can Help
